Levy Rates Drop In Lincoln County

School officials across West Virginia met to finalize levy rates for the 2017-2018 fiscal year on Tuesday, and several say no big changes are expected.

Boone, Mingo, Roane and Putnam counties report no changes in rates this year.

That means tax payers won't see an increase on home and car taxes.

School officials in Lincoln reported a decrease in their excess levy rates this year, but  tax payers won't see any changes in what they pay.

Like most areas, Lincoln County points the finger at two coal mines being closed down in the county.
