West Virginia Freedom Festival
The West Virginia Freedom Festival was held in downtown Logan to celebrate America's Independence Day. The festivities kicked off on Wednesday, July 4th with a Grand and Military Parade honoring Logan County's long military history, our veterans, and active duty military men and women. On Friday, July 6th WVOW hosted the Lip Sync Contest on the Main Stage. Katelyn Jones took the top prize with her imitation of Joan Jett doing "Crimson & Clover" and "I Love Rock and Roll". The audience was also treated to WVOW's own Ernie Shaw making his public debut singing The Temptations' "My Girl" with the Street Players Band. It may have been hot but fun was had by all at the West Virginia Freedom Festival. The streets were filled with festival goers enjoying live music from great local bands, tasty treats from the food vendors including the winner of the best booth contest, the Logan Shrine Club, activities for the kids, exciting stunt shows, and a fantastic double fireworks display on Saturday night. Make plans to attend next year's celebration in downtown Logan the first weekend in July.
