Monsters of Southern Rock at Coalfield Jamboree
On Friday, June 7, 2013 the Coalfield Jamboree was packed with a crowd ready to rock. They were not disappointed. First up was The L.C. Band featuring Brian Crist, CEO of Lincoln Primary Care. The concert would not have been possible without the generous support of Southern West Virginia Health System, a Company of LPCC. Following the fantastic performance by The L.C. Band came Skinny Molly ready to rock the house. Made up of former members of Lynyrd Skynyrd (Mike Estes) and Blackfoot (Jay Johnson and Kurt Pietro) and Nashville studio bassist Luke Bradshaw, they played songs off their newest release "Haywire Riot". Then, the Monsters of Southern Rock, made up of former members of southern rock bands Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchett, and Blackfoot, took the stage and thrilled the audience with Lynyrd Skynyrd hits "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird", Molly Hatchett hits "Flirtin' With Disaster" and "Gator Country", and finished the evening with a 12 minute version of Blackfoot's "Highway Song". Those that wanted to continue the party headed over to BJ's of Logan for the official after-party where fans got to hang out with members of The L.C. Band, Skinny Molly, and the Monsters of Southern Rock. Many thanks to sponsors Southern West Virginia Health System, Gaylock Wrecker Service, and Southern Amusements for making the concert possible and to BJ's of Logan for hosting the after-party. Those that brought canned foods had the opportunity to meet the Monsters of Southern Rock before the concert and the canned food went to the Salvation Army for distribution to those in need in Logan County.
