2013 West Virginia Freedom Festival
The West Virginia Freedom Festival took place in downtown Logan again this year. The festivities kicked off Thursday, July 4, 2013 with the Easy Street Band followed by a Karaoke Challenge, Pet Show, Lip Sync Contest, the Street Players, the Daddy Rabbit Band, Tim Williams, and the Corey Stevenson Band. Friday, July 5th began with more music from the Brother Satch Band, another Karaoke Challenge, a West Virginia 150th Birthday Celebration, the LC Band, Power Slam Pro Wrestling, Kaitlin Boytek, the Easy Street Band, and the Powerhouse Band. Saturday, July 6th kicked off early with the Inaugural Firecracker 5K through downtown Logan, the Frank Chirico Memorial Car Show, the Greg Eplin Memorial Motorcycle Show, and then the music cranked back up with the Street Players, a Military Salute, a Superheroes Block Party for Gabe, A Mile to Nowhere, a KISS tribute band named Dressed to Kill, the Hammer Down Band, and two fireworks shows. There were over 50 vendors with everything from great barbeque to cold drinks, Rock City Cake Company opened briefly for the festival and came away with the Window Decorating Contest Award, and those attending the festival were thrilled with the High Energy Magic of Speed, the Fearless Flores Circus and Thrill Show, and the Kids Buck Game Show. There was something for the entire family at this year's West Virginia Freedom Festival. If you missed it, mark your calendars and make sure to attend next year's West Virginia Freedom Festival in downtown Logan.
