Kayla Marcum is a Logan County native, born and raised, and is happy to be back in her hometown to start her career in broadcast.
After a short stint as a fine arts/education major, Kayla transferred majors and schools and moved to Huntington, W.Va. in the fall of 2010 to attend Marshall University.
She made the best of her time there and made incredible memories through an internship in Nashville. She was also part of the first MU Report team to bring an Emmy to Marshall University for “Best Student-Produced Video Newscast.”
However, when it came time to begin her career, she knew she wanted to start at home. Kayla became the full-time News Director for WVOW in September 2015. She said she wakes up every morning knowing she has a challenge to meet, an opportunity to improve herself and her surroundings, and that is what keeps her going.
In her spare time, Kayla enjoys being outdoors with her animals, spending time with her family, making music with her friends, and ministering at her church.
