LOGAN A report of a naked child with a knife and fireworks resulted in the mother’s arrest for child neglect.
According to a complaint filed in Logan CountyMagistrate Court, City of Logan Police responded to a 911 call on Wednesday, May 24 concerning a naked three-year-old on Wilson Street in Logan. The complaint, filed by Patrolman C. Fielder, alleged the child was holding a knife and fireworks when he arrived on the scene.
According to the complaint, the young boy said his mother was asleep.
The mother was identified in the complaint as 31-year-old Latosha Arrington. According to the complaint, the mother told police she worked the night before and “had a few alcoholic beverages” that morning.
The complaint further stated three field sobriety tests were performed on Ms. Arrington and police alleged she showed signs of impairment on all three tests.
Police transported Arrington to Logan Regional Medical Center for a blood draw before processing at city hall in Logan.
Arrington was charged with one felony count of child neglect creating risk of injury. If convicted, Arrington faces up to $3,000 in fines, one to five years imprisonment or both.
Logan Magistrate Court set bond at $20,000 ten percent and surety.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
