The Logan County Health Department reported a second death this week due to COVID-19.
Health Department Director Steve Browning confirmed a 78-year-old female succumbed to complications from COVID-19 today. The death is the second COVID related death this week. On Tuesday, a 54-year-old male reportedly died from coronavirus.
The health department also reported 23 new infections of COVID-19 over the last week.
New infections are currently outpacing recoveries. The department confirmed six recoveries from infection since last Friday.
Logan County has 27 active cases of the virus. Recoveries remain at 3,281 cleared cases. To date, 93 people have died due to the virus.
Since the onset of the outbreak, Logan has recorded a cumulative total of 3,401 cases of COVID-19.
One person remains hospitalized.
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human resources reported 268 new cases Friday. The Mountain State now has over 2,000 active cases.
