CHAPMANVILLE Jay Brock scored 22 points, Benji Adkins had 21 and eighth-ranked Chapmanville led from start to finish to beat Wayne 91-59 Tuesday night at the Danny Godby Gymnasium.
Brock had 15 of his team-high 22 points in the first half to pace six Tigers in double figures. Brock made nine field goals and Adkins made 10 as Chapmanville made a season-high 39 field goals.
Chapmanville scored the first 21 points of the game and had a 29-point halftime lead, 52-23.
Joey Gollihue had 13 points, Colten Brock scored 12 points off the bench, Keaton Terry 11 and Dakota Dalton 10 for Chapmanville.
Adkins scored six of the Tigers first eight points and led 21-0 when Dalton buried a 3-pointer with 3:41 to play in the opening quarter.
Cooper Adkins got Wayne on the board when he scored with 3:12 to play in the opening quarter.
Isaac Meddings, Wayne's all-time leading scorer, was held scoreless in the first, but scored 23 second half points to lead all scorers. Payton Marcum had 10 and Ronnie Staley finished with nine points.
Wayne (14-4) had its five-game winning streak snapped and the loss could prove costly in the quest for a top two seed in the upcoming Class AAA Region IV tournament.
Wayne dropped to 3-2 against Region IV competition with losses to third-ranked Nitro and the eighth-ranked Tigers.
Chapmanville (12-5), winners of five straight, staked its claim for the top spot in the six-team regional tournament, which is set to begin March 7. The Tigers have wins over Nitro and Wayne as well as a season sweep of Lincoln County and their only loss against regional competition came at Winfield.
