AEP says 80% of power outages restored


LOGAN Widespread wind and rain blamed for power outages in West Virginia Wednesday.


According Appalachian Power, crews worked through the night to restore power to nearly eighty percent of the 11,200 customers that were left in the dark. Service interrupted by high winds knock over trees onto transmission lines.


According to the utility, as of nine o’clock Thursday morning, approximately 2,400 customer remain without power.


Restoration currently set for noon in the Huntington and Wayne areas. Customers in Bluefield, Hamlin and Milton have an estimated restoration time of 4 p.m. Thursday. AEP said customers in Logan, Madison, Pineville and Williamson may have power back Thursday night at eleven o’clock.
