A Beckley man was sentenced Friday to six years and six months in prison for possession of prepubescent child pornography.
According to federal court documents and statements made in court, investigators received multiple CyberTipline reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in 2020 regarding possible child pornography uploaded using the MeWe social media platform and Dropbox.
An investigation traced the uploads to 25-year-old Dakota Anderson, of Beckley. Anderson was arrested and he admitted to possessing approximately 85 videos and 715 images depicting children engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Anderson admitted that he would view and store the material on his cell phone.
The six year sentence will be followed by 25 years of supervised release.
Anderson must also register as a sex offender.
