In high school basketball action, the Chapmanville Tigers improved to 2-3 on the season and dropped Mingo Central to 1-5, as they knocked off their sectional rivals 55-44 Wednesday night at Danny Godby Gymnasium in Chapmanville.
Both teams struggled from the floor in the first half, as the Miners held an 8-6 lead after the first quarter, and the Tigers edged in front 16-12 at the half, and that was when Chapmanville's Isaiah Fleming caught fire.
Late in the 3rd quarter, Fleming knocked down six consecutive three-pointers to blow the game open, as he finished with eight three-pointers for the contest and a career-high 25 points in the win for Chapmanville.
Mingo Central was led by Jarius Jackson, who closed the game with 23 points for the Miners.
The Tigers will get back into action Friday when they travel to Winfield to take on the Generals.
Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
