LOGAN Five players scored in double figures Tuesday night as the Class AAA 9th-ranked Logan Wildcats snapped a six-game losing streak, defeating sectional rival Scott 74-42 at the Willie Akers Arena.
Julius Clancy had 22 points to four Wildcat starters in double figures. Cole Blankenship had 13 points, Matt Hatfield 12, McCormick Ilderton 10 and Zayden Sherod finished with 12 points off the bench for Logan, who won for the first time since defeating Mingo Central, 66-56, in the King Coal Classic on December 16.
Scott led 11-9 after one quarter and late in the first half, the game was tied at 20, before Logan closed the second quarter on a 10-1 run to take a 30-21 halftime lead.
Scott scored the first basket of the third quarter to draw to within seven, however, it would be as close as the Skyhawks would get as the Wildcats outscored the Skyhawks 23-9 in the third and led 51-30 after three quarters.
Owen Adkins led Scott with nine points and Jeremiah Brown and Tyler Walls each had eight points for the Skyhawks.
Logan (5-6) made 29 of 50 shots from the field and was 7 of 14 from 3-point range.
Scott (5-7) struggled from the field shooting, knocking down 14 of its 45 shots and was 4 of 21 from beyond the arc.
