Five starters score in double figures as Wildcats pull away from Skyhawks in second half

MADISON    All five Logan starters scored in double figures as Class AA No. 6 Logan pulled away in the second half to defeat rival Scott 63-47 Friday night at the Hawks Nest.

 

McCormick Ilderton led a balanced Wildcats attack with a game-high 15 points, including 11 in the second half. Matt Hatfield knocked down three 3-pointers and scored eight of his 13 points in the first half. Lucas Lambert scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half, Zayden Sherrod had 11 and Ivan Miller 10 for Logan (6-0).

 

Logan led 26-20 at halftime, but outscored Scott 22-11 in the third quarter to build a 17-point lead and led by as many as 25 points in the fourth quarter.

 

Tyler Walls led Scott (3-4) with 11 points in the loss. Colin Williamson scored 10 and Cole Elkins eight for the Skyhawks.

 

Logan will host the Willie Akers Classic Friday and Saturday at the Willie Akers Arena. The Wildcats will preseason Class AA co-No. 2 Williamstown Friday at 8 p.m. and host co-No. 2 Charleston Catholic Saturday at 8 p.m.
