CHARLESTON West Virginia residents hit the Hatfield-McCoy trails for free this weekend in celebration of the state’s birthday.
Free trail passes are available to state residents with valid West Virginia issued identification at trailheads and facilities, according to a news release from the office of Governor Jim Justice.
The free ride weekend is in celebration of West Virginia’s 159 years since the establishment of statehood in 1863.
The free permits will be available at the Country Roads Visitors Center and the Hatfield McCoy Welcome Center.
The free passes will also be available at the following trailheads: Bearwallow, Buffalo Mountain, Cabwaylingo, Devil Anse, Ivy Branch, Pinnacle Creek, Pocahontas, Rockhouse and Warrior trailheads.
The free trail passes are valid between June seventeenth and West Virginia Day on Monday, June twentieth.
Monday is West Virginia Day.
