COW CREEK A Sunday evening gas line rupture closed Cow Creek Road in Logan County and prompted the evacuation of two nearby homes.

Main Island Creek Volunteer Fire Department posted on social media that the incident was initially reported as a gas line explosion 4p.m. Sunday. Fortunately, that turned out to not be the case exactly. A spontaneous rupture of a sixteen inch high pressure gas transmission line could have been devastating. Fortunately again, no injuries were reported.

A video provided by firefighters of the rupture of a natural gas transmission line on Cow Creek Mountain Sunday. That's not smoke. That is actually dirt and dust being blown into the air by the big hole from the rupture.

A video provided by Main Island Creek VFD is actually of dust and dirt blown sky-high by the rupture with natural gas pouring out around 800psi reportedly. Main Island Creek responded along with the City of Logan Fire Department and the Delbarton Volunteer Fire Department.

Gas company was on the scene Sunday evening, isolated the ruptured line and were working to get it back in operation. The extent of the property damage, the rupture left a sizable hole in the ground, and the rupture’s cause remain under investigation.

The road has since reopened.
