CHARLESTON Gas prices continue to drop in certain parts of the Mountain State.
Statewide, the American Automobile Association reports a current average gas price of three dollars and one cent per gallon of regular unleaded fuel. While slightly up from last week’s prices, it’s still nearly ten cents down from last month. That state average is also influenced by higher gas prices in West Virginia’s northern and eastern regions.
Logan and Boone County prices average less than $2.85 per gallon, as opposed to Tucker County, where the average price per gallon is the highest in the state at over $3.36.
Texas-based company GasBuddy keeps track of gas prices nationwide. Between West Virginia and Virginia, the company reports gas prices dancing around each other in a slow but steady decline, Virginia currently sitting slightly lower at right around $2.97 on average. Meanwhile over in Kentucky, the average price for regular has stayed marginally lower, currently averaging at around $2.77.
The highest gas price recorded in West Virginia, according to [triple A], was $4.93 per gallon in June 2022.
