Gollihue knocks down 7 treys in Tigers season opening win over Panthers

CHAPMANVILLE Joey Gollihue scored 25 points on eight field goals, seven of which were 3-pointers, to lead Class AAA No. 5 Chapmanville to an 87-62 victory over the Lincoln County Panthers Tuesday night at the Danny Godby Gymnasium.


Leading by six at halftime, Chapmanville outscored the Panthers, 32-10, in the third quarter to erase any thoughts Lincoln County had of a season opening upset of the Tigers.


Benji Adkins had 20 points and Jay Brock had 18 points for Chapmanville.


Eli Smith paced Lincoln County with 16 points, while Grayson Ellis chipped in with 14 points and Drew Banks added 10.


Chapmanville made 33 field goals, 11 of which were 3-pointers.


Lincoln County (0-1) will host Scott on December 17 while Chapmanville will host the annual Bob Runyon Memorial Friday and Saturday at Danny Godby Gymnasium. The Tigers (1-0) will entertain Class A No. 5 Huntington St. Joe's on Friday and host Class AA No. 8 Westside Saturday evening.
