Henlawson man charged with felonies following shoplifting call in Logan



LOGAN A man faces felony charges following a shoplifting complaint in Logan over the weekend.


City of Logan Police were called to the Fountain Place Walmart Saturday night just after seven o’clock. City Patolmen Cowart and Waldron were told by store asset protection that the defendant concealed merchandise on his person and in a black bag.


Police made contact with the accused, 34-year-old Brian Phipps of Henlawson. According to the criminal complaint filed in Logan County Magistrate Court, police conducted a terry frisk officer safety and recovered multiple items from the defendants pockets. Police say they also found four plastic bags containing a crystal like substance they suspected to be methamphetamine. Moreover, two individually wrapped stamps with a blue powdery substance believed to be fentanyl were also recovered.


Officers were advised by Logan County 911 that Phipps has previous convictions for shoplifting. A total of $808.68 in merchandise was recovered from Phipps, according to the complaint.


Phipps has been charged with possession with intent to deliver and third offense shoplifting.


Logan County Magistrate Dwight Williamson set bond at $75,000
