House fire at Omar Saturday a total loss, according to firefighters

OMAR No serious injuries following a structure fire in the Omar area over the weekend.


Main Island Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded to a two-story structure fire Saturday night around 10:30pm in the 8000 block of Jerry West Highway at Upper Omar.


Sixteen firefighters and two engines responded to the blaze from Main Island Creek’s department. City of Logan firefighters responded due to other residential structures in close proximity on both sides of the burning building. Fire was contained to the original structure and the nearby structures only had minor damage.


According to the Main Island Creek Volunteer Fire Department, the original structure is considered a complete loss


An occupant at the time of the fire was treated on site for burns to the palms of his hands. No other injuries were reported.


The Cause of the fire is undetermined, but believed to be unintentional in nature.
