NITRO Chapmanville fell behind by 11 points after one quarter and lost to top seed and top-ranked Nitro, 54-26, in one of two Class AAA Region IV co-finals Thursday night at Alumni Arena.
The Lady Wildcats (19-4) scored the first seven points of the game and held the Lady Tigers to just two first quarter points and led 13-2 after one quarter.
Nitro, the reigning Class AAA champion, earned the top spot in next week's Class AAA state tournament and will face eighth seed Lewis County at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
Mika Adams and Natalie Smith led Nitro with 14 points each. Ava Edwards finished with nine and Jaycee Sigman had six.
Haley Fleming led Chapmanville (8-14) with 13 points. Savannah Kirk scored five and Brooke Christian and Daizi Farley each had three points.
