Lady Tigers erase seven-point third quarter deficit, defeats Winfield 41-37

WINFIELD   Daizi Farley scored 15 points and Chapmanville overcame a seven-point third quarter deficit to beat Winfield 41-37 Tuesday night.

 

Farley made four of Chapmanville’s 10 3-points as the Lady Tigers opened the season with a win despite scoring seven points in the second and third quarters.

 

Chapmanville scored the first nine points and led by 11 early in the first quarter, but Winfield closed the quarter on an 8-1 run and pulled to within four points, 15-11, after one quarter of play.

 

The Lady Generals outscored the Lady Tigers, 7-3, in the second quarter to even the score at 18 heading into halftime, and outscored the visitors 11-4 in the third to take a 29-22 lead into the final quarter.

 

Gabby Canterbury led Winfield with 12 points, Emeri Nelson had eight and Kynnlee McClure and Savannah Willard each scored six points.

 

Brooke Christian finished with nine points, Savannah Kirk six and Tayli Smith five for Chapmanville.

 

Chapmanville (1-0) will host Lincoln County Friday night while Winfield (0-1) is in action at Cabell Midland High School against Class AAAA Huntington.
