NITRO Chapmanville scored seven runs in the fourth inning and had to hold off a late Nitro rally for a 9-6 win over the Wildcats Tuesday evening at Nitro High School.
The Lady Tigers seven-run outburst turned a 2-1 lead into a 9-1 advantage before the Lady Wildcats plated five runs in the fifth inning to close the gap to 9-6.
Nitro would get no closer as Charity Atwood retired eight of the 10 batters she faced to pick up the save in relief of Latosha Perry.
Atwood allowed one unearned run on one hit and struck out two in 2 2/3 innings. Perry started in the circle for Chapmanville and was credited with the win after allowing five runs on 10 hits and one strikeout in 4 1/3 innings.
Carlee Parker took the loss for Nitro after allowing four runs on four hits with two strikeouts and two walks in three innings in the circle.
Hannah Miller had two hits and two RBI and Erica Sigmon hit a two-run home run for Chapmanville.
Cecilee Lackey had two hits, a double and three RBI while Carly Mathes had two hits, a double and one RBI and Karli Norris hit a two-run home run for Nitro.
Avery Sayre had two hits and Savannah Cantley, Aris Miller and Parker each had one hit for the Lady Wildcats (6-4).
Brooke Christian, Emma Muncy, Laken Parks and Perry each had one hit and drove in one run while Erin Adkins had one hit for the Lady Tigers.
Chapmanville (3-2) is scheduled to host James Monroe Friday.
