Lady Tigers use middle quarters run to pull away from Lady Skyhawks

MADISON   Lakin Parks was one of four Lady Tigers in double figures finishing with 19 points and Chapmanville use a strong second and third quarter to defeat rival Scott, 68-40, Tuesday night at the Hawks Nest.


The Lady Tigers held a 15-11 lead after one quarter, but outscored the Lady Skyhawks, 42-19, in the second and third quarters for their fourth win of the season.


Savannah Kirk had 13 points, Haley Fleming scored 11 and Megan Brown finished with 10 for the Lady Tigers, who made 11 3-pointers in the win. Parks made five 3's and Kirk knocked down three shots from beyond the arc.


Chapmanville held Scott to eight made field goals, however, the Lady Skyhawks made 20-of-32 foul shots.


The Lady Skyhawks, losers of three of their first four games, got 13 points from Ricki Bailey and 11 points from Kelsey Harper. No other player had more than six points.


Chapmanville improved to 4-1 and will travel to county rival Logan Saturday evening as part of the King Coal Classic. The Lady Tigers and Lady Wildcats are scheduled to tipoff at 6 p.m. at the Willie Akers Arena.
