LOGAN   Williamstown flipped momentum in the second quarter and carried it over into the third quarter as the third-ranked Yellowjackets defeated Logan 50-37 in the first day of the Lady Wildcat Classic Friday night at the Willie Akers Arena.

Quinn Buch scored 21 points and Gracie Montgomery chipped in with 11 points as Williamstown erased a four-point first half deficit, outscoring Logan 20-6 in a span of 12:30.

The win was the second in six days for Williamstown (7-1) over Logan and was a near carbon copy of the Yellowjackets seven-point win on December 28.

In that contest, Williamstown trailed Logan, 38-31, with 1:30 remaining in the third quarter before outscoring Logan 17-3 over the final 9:30 to rally for the win.

Trailing, 19-15 with 4:36 to play Friday night, the Yellowjackets closed the first half on a 9-2 run to take a 24-21 halftime lead.

Williamstown scored the first six points of the third quarter to take a nine-point lead, 30-21 on Arissa Burt's basket.

Bam Mosby scored with 4:50 to play in the third and Addyson Amick added a free throw to cut the deficit to six points, 30-24, with 3:27 to play.

That would be as close as Logan would get as the Yellowjackets closed the quarter on a 5-1 run and led 35-25 after three quarters.

Logan could only get within nine points the rest of the way. The Lady Wildcats, who have lost three of their last four games, fell to 5-3 on the year.

Halle Crouse led Logan with 13 points and Mosby scored 11 points. The Lady Wildcats played without starter Jaycee Blair and freshman Jenna Hatfield, both of whom missed Friday's game with injuries.

Logan trailed 9-2 early in the first quarter before closing the gap to 13-9 after one quarter of play. The Lady Wildcats led 19-15 with 4:36 remaining in the first half following Mosby's 3-point play.
