PAINTSVILLE, KY The Logan Lady Wildcats continued their winning ways Monday night with a 15-1 dominating victory over previously unbeaten Johnson Central (KY).
The Lady Wildcats, who have won five straight and have outscored their last five opponents 55-8, improved to 6-2 on the season.
Monday's blowout of the Lady Eagles (7-1) was highlighted by a dominating pitching performance in the circle by Myleigh Adkins and timely hitting at the plate.
Adkins allowed one run on two hits over seven innings, striking out 17 and walking eight. Adkins and Harlee Quick each had a home run and eight different players recorded at least one hit for Logan.
Adkins had a three-run home run in the top of the seventh and Quick hit a two-run home run as part of a four-run fifth inning. Taylor Noe had two hits and drove in four runs and Emilee Mullins had one hit and two RBIs for Logan.
After a scoreless first inning, Logan plated four runs in the second, one in the fourth, four more in the fifth, one in the sixth and five in the seventh while Johnson Central scored its lone run in the bottom of the fifth.
Randi Delong had one hit and one RBI and Mayson Delong doubled and scored for the Lady Eagles.
Johnson Central used four different pitchers in the circle. Raelynn Adkins was the losing pitcher after allowing eight runs- five earned-, seven hits and two walks in 4 1/3 innings.
Johnson Central had won its first seven games and had outscored its opponents 87-23 in those seven games before allowing 15 runs to Logan and scoring only one.
Addison Brumfield and Lacy Curry each had one hit and one RBI, Ashlin Brumfield and Kayee Coleman had one hit each and Isabella Propst drove in one run for Logan.
Both schools will be back in action Friday evening. Johnson Central host Montgomery County (KY) while Logan will welcome sectional rival Scott to Bea Orr Field.
