Lady Wildcats pull away from Lady Skyhawks in fourth quarter

MADISON Seventh-ranked Logan outscored Scott 23-12 in the fourth quarter and remained in contention for the second seed in the Class AA Region IV tournament with a 57-44 win over the Lady Skyhawks Saturday afternoon at the Hawks Nest.


Logan led 14-5 after one quarter and 19-14 at halftime Saturday before Scott pulled to within two, 34-32, after three quarters.


Addyson Amick led Logan with 22 points and Halle Crouse added 10 for the Lady Wildcats, who improved to 11-5 overall and 3-2 against Region IV competition.


With regional tournament play under a month away, the Lady Wildcats remained in the hunt for the tournament's second seed, which carries homecourt advantage through the co-championship games.


Rikki Bailey led Scott with 17 points and Kelsey Harper added 14.


Scott (3-9) has lost six of seven games and five straight, will look to get back in the win column Tuesday night when they host Poca.
