LOGAN Eighth-ranked Logan overcame a slow first quarter start to snap a three-game losing streak Tuesday night, defeating the Scott Lady Skyhawks 62-46 at the Willie Akers Arena.
Addyson Amick paced four starters in double figures with 19 points, and the Lady Wildcats forced 22 turnovers while holding Scott to four made field goals in the first half.
Amick scored 10 of her 19 points in the first quarter to help Logan overcome a slow first quarter start that the lead change hands 10 times and also featured five ties. Amick’s 3-pointer with 2:52 remaining in the first was the final lead change of the night.
Logan led 19-14 late in the first quarter, but Amick picked up a second personal foul followed by a technical foul as she headed to the Lady Wildcats bench with 0:12 remaining and had to set for the entire second quarter with three fouls.
Scott’s Kelsey Harper, who had nine of her team-high 19 points, made three of four free throws to bring the Lady Skyhawks to within two, 19-17, after one quarter of play.
Scott would get no closer as Logan held them without a point for the first 4:34 of the second quarter and went on a 9-0 run.
Halle Crouse started the run with a 3-pointer, Peyton Butcher had a free throw and a field goal and Bam Mosby’s basket with 3:58 to play before halftime put Logan on top 28-17.
