LOGAN Halle Crouse scored 17 of her game-high 21 points in the second half and Logan overcame a seven-point first-half deficit to defeat Herbert Hoover 52-36 Monday night at Willie Akers Arena.
The Lady Wildcats (3-0) trailed 26-19 with 0:30 remaining in the first half, but four straight points from Addyson Amick to close the first half brought Logan to within three, 26-23, at halftime and six straight from Crouse to start the third quarter gave the Lady Wildcats a 29-26 lead.
Amick scored 15 for the Lady Wildcats, who forced 21 Herbert Hoover turnovers.
Hoover regained the lead, 30-29, after back-to-back baskets from Payshence Lyons and Bella Haas.
Crouse broke a 34-34 tie with a pair of free throws with 1:32 remaining and Amick's basket with 0:23 remaining gave Logan a 38-34 lead after three quarters of play.
Logan's lead was four, 40-36, with 4:15 to play after Lyons scored for the Lady Huskies, but Herbert Hoover would get no closer as the Lady Wildcats closed the game on a 12-0 run.
Ayva Veltri led Herbert Hoover (0-2) with 16 points, all of them coming in the first half. Haas and Lyons had six points each.
Amick and Crouse combined for 12 of Logan's 20 made field goals. Crouse knocked down two 3-pointers and was 9-of-10 from the foul line.
Herbert Hoover returns to action December 17 at Nicholas County. Logan returns home to host Roane County at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
