MAN Logan County Schools will once again be conducting an Active Threat Drill next Tuesday for schools only in the Man Attendance Area.
Schools included in this exercise include Buffalo Elementary School, Man Elementary School, South Man Elementary School, Man Middle School and Man High School.
According to Logan County Schools Deputy Superintendent Josh Brumfield, targeting a specific attendance area for the scheduled Active Threat Drill allows for a better utilization of emergency service personnel resources for a more focused response.
“The time and scenario is not disclosed,” Brumfield said Tuesday evening during a meeting of the Logan County Board of Education.
“We do this to test our internal and external communications. Our preparedness with staff and students. Also with our response time with our local law enforcement,” Brumfield continued. “It’s truly a collaborative effort.”
To simulate a real emergency and / or threat, school buildings may be on lock down during the drill, and there may be an increased presence of first responders at schools
The school district said the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, West Virginia State Police and Capitol Police School Safety Unit will be participating in the drill.
The safety of all students and staff in Logan County is a top priority, according to Brumfield. He said the drill will provide school and district leaders information that will enhance the overall preparedness and help evaluate school level safety plans which are currently in place.
Once again, next Tuesday, November 19th Logan County Schools will be conducting an Active Threat Drill for schools only in the Man Attendance Area.
