HAMLN Bralin Peters tossed a complete game and had two hits and drove in one run and Lincoln County beat the Man Hillbillies 5-4 on Wednesday in season opener for both schools at Lincoln County High School.
Peters struck out 10, allowed four runs and four hits with one walk in seven innings of work. Peters also had a triple and a run scoring single for the Panthers (1-0).
Lincoln County jumped on Man starter Braxton Messer in the third, scoring five runs, three on Hillbilly errors. Peters and Dawson Adkins had RBI singles.
Peters started the scoring with an infield single scoring Kayson Toppings. Adkins singled to score Isaac Byrd and Garrett Adkins came around to score on an error to stake Lincoln County to a 3-0 lead.
The Panthers went ahead 5-0 when Peters and Dawson Adkins scored on a second third inning Man error.
Messer allowed five runs, only one earned, on two hits while striking out four and walking three in three innings. Cody Walls relieved Messer and allowed two hits while striking out three and walking one in three innings of relief.
Man rallied in the fifth inning scoring four runs to close the deficit to 5-4. Noah Maynor started the scoring with a run scoring single to plate Caleb Brown to get Man on the board. Landon Cantrell singled to right to score Brayden Compton making it 5-2.
Gavyn Cline drove in Cantrell with the third run of the inning and Maynor stole home to make it 5-4.
Cantrell, Cline and Maynor each had one and one RBI and Walls had one hit for Man.
Toppings had one hit for the Panthers.
