MAN   The longest losing streak of the season is now a thing of the past as the ninth-ranked Hillbillies snapped a five-game losing Wednesday night defeating River View 54-52 at the Man Memorial Fieldhouse.

Justin Mullins led the Hillbillies with 14 points and Connor Booth and Bryson Wingler each scored 12.

Already down three starters due to suspension for their role in an altercation last week at Mt. View, Man was down a fourth starter, who was out due to illness, Wednesday night.

Trailing by eight points in the third quarter, Man held the Raiders to three field goals and just eight points in the fourth quarter. Man (12-7), trailed by one, 50-49, when Kaden Newberry drained a 3-pointer with 3:47 to play, but Booth's basket with 3:38 remaining gave the Hillbillies a one-point lead, 51-50, that they would not relinquish.

A Mullins free throw and a Landon Cantrell layup put the Hillbillies up 54-50 with 45 seconds to play before Newberry scored with four seconds left to bring River View within two points, 54-52.

Man was able to run the remaining four seconds off the clock and snap its losing streak.

Ashton Hunt and Newberry each had 17 points to lead River View (4-10) in scoring.

River View led by as many as eight points in the third quarter, but Man erased that deficit with an 11-0 run and led by three, 47-44, when Micah Goble scored with 4:32 to play, but the Raiders ended a 5:08 scoring drought when Hunt drained a 3-pointer with 4:32 to play to tie the game at 47.

Man started fast out of the gates jumping out to a 13-6 lead in the first quarter before River View closed the quarter on a 9-2 run to even the score at 15 after one quarter of play.

Braeden Rose scored the first basket of the second quarter to give the Raiders a 17-15 lead and extend the run to 11-2 before Man regained the lead, 21-19, on Wingler's basket.

River View trimmed a five-point deficit to one, 28-27, by scoring the final four points of the first half.

The Raider will host Summers County on February 21 while Man returns to the hardwood Monday night at Van.
