Martin County Judge-Executive Died At 57



Martin County Judge-Executive Victor Slone died Sunday.


Slone announced last month he would not run for another term of office. His decision was made for health reasons, according to a social media post at the time. Moreover, Slone also said he been undergoing cancer treatment for several years.


“I am saddened to learn about the passing of Martin Co. Judge Executive Victor Slone,” Kentucky Congressman Hal Rogers posted to social media. “My wife Cynthia and I extend our heartfelt sympathies to the Slone family and the people of Martin County.


Slone was appointed judge-executive by Governor Andy Beshear last April following Bill Davis' sudden resignation. Slone's term of office was set expire in December 2022. Martin County will now have its third judge-executive in two years.


Slone also served as magistrate for Martin County since 2003.


Services are noon Wednesday at Crum Funeral Home in Inez. A visitation is set for one o’clock Tuesday at the funeral home.
