LOGAN   Preston May threw a pair of touchdowns to lead Tug Valley to a hard fought 13-6 win over Logan Friday night at Willis-Nisbet Stadium.

Tug Valley improved to 3-0 and struck first when May connected with Ashton Davis for a 9-yard score in the first quarter with 2:40 remaining for a 7-0 lead.

May, who was 10 of 21 passing for 86 yards and two touchdowns, also rushed for 37 yards on eight carries.

Logan pulled to within one, 7-6, following an 85-yard touchdown pass from Adam Baisden to Lucas Lambert with 7:32 remaining before halftime.

That remained the score until May connected with Bryson Elia for a 1-yard touchdown with 4:47 remaining to put the Panthers up 13-6.

Elia rushed for a game-high 168 yards on 26 carries while Cameron Slone hauled in four receptions for 58 yards for the Panthers.

Lambert caught two passes for 104 yards while Zayden Sherrod hauled in five receptions for 72 yards. Jack Ball rushed for 27 yards on six carries for the Wildcats.

Baisden completed 2 of 5 passes for 98 yards before leaving the game with an injury. Caleb Johnson completed 6 of his 7 passes for 79 yards, but left with an injury as well, and Brodee Belcher threw for 51 yards after completing 4 of his 7 pass attempts.

Tug Valley will take a 3-0 record into its bye week and should be rated high in Tuesday’s first set of West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission Class A playoff rankings. The Panthers will be back in action September 27 when they travel to Morgan County (Kentucky).

Logan returns to the gridiron Friday night as they host undefeated Poca for homecoming.
