Myleigh Adkins drives in eight as Lady Wildcats defeat Lady Tigers 16-7

CHAPMANVILLE Myleigh Adkins drove in eight runs with two home runs and a double and Class AA No.1 Logan beat county rival and Class AAA No. 7 Chapmanville 16-7 at Ronnie "Mule" Ooten Field on Tuesday evening.
Adkins hit a grand slam in the second, a three-run shot in the third and drove in an eighth run when she was intentionally walked with the bases loaded in the seventh inning.
Adkins finished the game 3-for-3, and the two home runs were her eighth and ninth of the season and she also scored four times to help avoid a series sweep.
Lena Setser (1-0) pitched five innings of relief to earn the win in the circle. Setser allowed five runs on six hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
One day after no-hitting Class AAA No. 1 Winfield, Chapmanville starting pitcher Chloe Murphy (5-4) allowed five runs on two hits, struck out seven and walked three in 2 2/3 innings.
Chapmanville (7-4), who led 2-1 heading to the top of the third, tied the game at 5 on Peyton Lusk's three-run home run, her second of the season and second straight game with a homer, in the bottom of the third.
Logan (11-3) seized control in the top of the fourth plating six runs and scored two more in the sixth and three in the seventh.
Brooke Christian had two hits and drove in one run for Chapmanville. Mady Farley and Laken Parks each had one hit and one RBI and Hannah Miller and Murphy had one hit each for the Lady Tigers.
Melody Rozzell had three hits including a double and scored twice and Emilee Mullins had two hits and drove in two for Logan. Setser had a double and two RBI, Ashlin Brumfield had one hit, one RBI and scored three times, Lacy Curry had one hit and scored four times and Lauren Adkins drove in two runs for the Lady Wildcats.
Chapmanville travels to Ripley Wednesday evening. Logan is back in action Thursday hosting Johnson Central (Kentucky).
