One dead from injuries in Tuesday crash at Verdunville

VERDUNVILLE A two vehicle head-on collision on Mud Fork Road Tuesday morning resulted in one fatality and another injured.
According to the Verdunville Volunteer Fire Department, the crash happened around 7:30 Tuesday morning at Piedmont Drive near the split of Mud Fork and Harts Creek roads in Verdunville.
The crash involved a Krist Door Service pickup truck and a small passenger car that had been involved in the head on collision, according to a press release issued Tuesday evening by the Logan County Sheriff’s Department.
The Krist Door Service truck, a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling east on Mud Fork Road toward Logan and the other vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet Impala was traveling west on Mud Fork Road toward Dingess.
According to a social media post from the Verdunville Volunteer Fire Department, one person was severely entrapped and in traumatic arrest when firefighters arrived on scene. Despite the efforts by responders, the patient succumbed to their injuries.
Logan deputies identified the victim as 50-year-old Jody Lee Bryant from Verdunville. From the investigation, it was determined that Bryant failed to keep in the proper lane, crossed the center line and struck the pickup, causing heavy damage to both vehicles.
The driver from the pickup was transported to Logan Regional Medical Center and had minimal injuries.
The scene closed down Mud Fork Road for over three hours.
Logan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
