LOGAN Noah Lewis scored 12 point and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Class AAAA No. 3 George Washington to a 54-38 win over Class AAA No. 6 Chapmanville Saturday evening at the Willie Akers Arena.
Lewis made 5 of 10 shots from the floor to help George Washington (13-0) remain undefeated and hold Chapmanville to a season low 38 points.
Tyler Maddox came off the bench to score 10 of the Patriots 25 bench points. Gale Lamb had eight and Dominic Sprouse seven.
Entering the game, George Washington had only allowed 39.4 points per contest and had not allowed an opponent to score more than 46 points in 11 consecutive games since allowing a season-high 65 to Wesley Christian in the 2024-25 season opener.
For the Tigers, who were held to its lowest point total since scoring 39 in a 48-39 loss at Logan on February 10, 2023. Chapmanville made just 13 of 42 shots from the field and was held to 11 combined points in the second and fourth quarters.
Joey Gollihue led Chapmanville with 17 points and Dakota Dalton added seven points. Keaton Terry had five points to go along with 15 rebounds.
Dalton sank a 3-pointer to cap a 7-0 run and give Chapmanville its only lead of the contest, 7-4, with 4:45 to play in the opening quarter.
George Washington closed the quarter on a 13-7 run and led 17-14 after one quarter of play. The Patriots led by eight, 28-20, at halftime, and extended that lead to 10 points, 43-33, after three quarters of play.
Four straight points to start the fourth pushed the margin out to 14, 47-33, when Chuck Kelley scored with 5:06 to play in fourth. Gollihue knocked down a pair of free throws with 4:13 remaining to bring the Tigers within 12 points, 47-35, but Chapmanville would get no closer as George Washington outscored the Tigers 7-3 over the final 4:13 to pull away.
Chapmanville, who was defeated by Winfield the night before, lost consecutive games for the first time this season and fell to 7-5 with the loss.
