WINFIELD Maci Boggess hit a walk off three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Class AA No. 1 Winfield a 6-3 win over Class AA No. 2 Logan Tuesday night at Winfield High School.
In a game that lived up to its billing, Boggess hit a 3-1 pitch off Logan's Myleigh Adkins over the center field fence giving Winfield its 15th win of the season.
Logan led 2-1 after Isabella Propst's solo home run in the top of the fourth inning. Winfield answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth, getting an RBI single from Kristen Hensley to tie the game and a go ahead double off the bat of Evie Loyd.
Logan answered with a run in top of the sixth to tie it at 3 on MaKenna Ooten's sacrifice bunt.
Adkins hit a solo home run in the second inning and added a double to lead Logan (11-4) at the plate. Adkins was the losing pitcher after allowing three runs on three hits with five strikeouts and one walk in two innings of relief in the circle.
Shae Conley started in the circle for the Lady Wildcats and allowed three runs on 10 hits while striking out four and walking one in six innings.
Boggess got the win in relief for Winfield after striking out five in three scoreless innings of relief of Lilly Chandler. Chandler allowed three runs on seven hits, struck out three and walked one in six innings.
Chloe Kimble had four hits including a pair of doubles and drove in two runs for Winfield. Georgia Moulder had three hits and Ella Nelson had two hits and a triple. Hensley and Loyd each had one hit and one RBI and Alex Hurley doubled for the Lady Generals.
Taylor Noe had a double and Addi Brumfield and Emilee Mullins each had one hit for the Lady Wildcats.
Logan 13, Poca 1 (Five Innings) - Myleigh Adkins allowed one hit and MaKenna Ooten hit a two-run home run driving in three runs in Logan's 13-1 five inning mercy rule win over Poca.
Adkins struck out eight and walked two in five innings and helped her own cause at the plate with a double and two RBIs.
Eleven different Lady Wildcats had at least one hit and eight of the 11 drove in at least one run.
Lilly Wells singled with two outs in the second to score Jenna Cook with Poca's lone run of the contest.
Taylor Noe had two hits, a triple and drove in one run while Addison Richardson had a double, two RBIs and scored three runs. Addi Brumfield had two doubles and Ashlin Brumfield had a solo home run for the Lady Wildcats.
Kendra Dunbar was the losing pitcher after allowing six runs on seven hits, struck out two and walked one in 2 1/3 innings.
Lacy Curry doubled and had one RBI and Lauren Adkins and Harlee Quick each had one hit and RBI while Emilee Mullins doubled and Darea Capua had one hit for Logan.
