The West Virginia State Senate, after several days of extended consideration, approved a new map of Senate districts.
The latest map was approved overwhelmingly with a vote of 31-2. Senators Richard Lindsay and Glenn Jeffries voted against the map.
The map that was selected was a new amendment taking into consideration the prior map. Many of the districts are similar to current map.
The state Legislature is responsible for drawing political boundaries every ten years with a new Census.
If the map is approved and signed into law, the Seventh Senatorial District would include all of Logan, Lincoln and Boone counties. The seventh would also include a portion of Kanawha County
