Seven-run first inning powers Lady Wildcats to eighth straight victory

MYRTLE BEACH, SC   Logan scored seven runs in the first inning and three pitchers combined on a three-hitter to lead the Lady Wildcats to an eighth straight victory Monday afternoon in the Grand Strand Softball Classic at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex.

 

In the circle, Myleigh Adkins, Charlie Albright and Harlee Quick held the Ellicottville (NY) Eagles bats at bay while the Lady Wildcats offense erupted for 12 runs and 12 hits in a 12-1 five-inning win over the Eagles.

 

Eight different players recorded at least one hit and seven of those eight had at least one RBI as Logan plated 12 runs in the first three innings.

 

Emilee Mullins led the offensive charge with one hit and two runs driven in while Adkins and Addison Brumfield each had two hits, two runs scored and one RBI. Quick had two hits and one RBI and Taylor Noe two hits for the Lady Wildcats.

 

Lacy Curry had a triple and one RBI, Kaylee Coleman one hit and one driven in while Lauren Adkins contributed with a hit and Ashlin Brumfield scored two runs.

 

In the circle, Adkins picked up the win after allowing one hit and striking out four in two innings pitched. Albright gave up two hits, struck out four and walked two in two innings and Quick allowed one run on one hit and struck out two in her lone inning in the circle for Logan.

 

Ande Northrup suffered the loss for Ellicottville after allowing 11 runs on nine hits and two walks in two innings.

 

Courtney Marsh had two hits including a fourth inning solo home run and Karle Northup one hit for the Eagles.

 

Ellicottville fell to 0-2 with the loss while Logan improved to 9-2 with the win.
