MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. Talan Thompson had four hits including two doubles and three RBIs and Ivan Miller pitched five innings of one hit baseball as Class AA No. 3 Logan shutout Camden (NY), 8-0, in the South Atlantic Bank Invitational Wednesday afternoon at Georgetown High School.
Miller (5-0) had nine strikeouts in five innings and Jayce Wolfe added two doubles and two RBIs as Logan (12-1) won its 11th straight game.
The Wildcats scored a run in the first, two in the third and fourth, one more in the fifth and two more in the seventh.
Thompson doubled in the first, stole third and came around to score on error to give Logan a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
In the third inning, Thompson singled stole second and third and scored on a passed ball and Grayson Sanders scored on Bentley Williamson's sacrifice fly for a 3-0 lead.
Thompson doubled in the fourth inning to score Adam Baisden and McCormick Ilderton extending Logan's lead to 5-0. Jayce Wolfe doubled in the fifth to plate Sanders for a 6-0 lead.
In the seventh, Thompson's fourth hit of the game, brought home Landon Hall and Wolfe doubled to score courtesy runner Gabe Goldie.
Camden starting pitcher Jacob Seamon (0-1) allowed three runs on three hits, walked three and struck out one in two innings.
Caden Grygiel and Joey Matt had one hit each for the Blue Devils (3-3), who have lost three straight games.
William Bryant allowed one hit, walked three and struck out three in two innings of relief for Logan.
Thompson and Wolfe accounted for six of the Wildcats 10 hits, Tanner Akers, Baisden, Hall and Miller each had one hit.
Camden will face the Marlboro Academy (Bennettsville, SC) at 3:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon at Waccamaw High School.
In search of its 12th straight victory, Logan will take on the South Pointe (Rock Hill, SC) Stallions at 3:30 p.m. at St. James High School on Thursday afternoon.
