Teen arrested in McDowell County arson at Headstart building



ELKHORN State Police arrested a suspect in connection with two structure fires.


According to the West Virginia State Police, nineteen-year-old Anthony Bale Scott is accused of committing two acts of arson in Elkhorn on Monday.


Trooper E.C. Nunn responded to a call reporting a structure fire at the Elkhorn Headstart building. According to the caller, a suspicious person, later identified by authorities as Anthony Scott, was seen leaving the scene of the fire. He allegedly returned later to set fire to a second structure and was taken into custody by Trooper Nunn shortly after.


Troopers say Scott is currently believed to have hopped a train to the area from Michigan.


The incidents are still under investigation. At this time, Scott’s motive for allegedly setting the fires is unclear.
