LOGAN A 12-0 third quarter run proved to be the difference for Logan Thursday night, as the Lady Wildcats improved to 2-0, defeating Sissonville 52-47 at Willie Akers Arena.
The Lady Wildcats, who trailed by one at halftime, found themselves down three, 30-27, when Ava Hillabold scored to start the third quarter.
Any momentum that Sissonville built with a 9-2 mini-run spanning the end of the second quarter and start of the third, was erased when Jenna Hatfield knocked down a corner 3 to start a 12-0 run.
Sissonville, who was held to four points in the third quarter, trailed 41-33 after three, and managed to cut the deficit to five points on three occasions in the fourth quarter, but could get no closer as Logan held on for the five-point victory.
Addison Amick led Logan with 13 points, all coming in the first half, while Payton Butcher joined Amick in double figures with 11. Butcher scored seven of those in the second half including five in the third quarter. Jaycee Blair and Hatfield narrowly missed double digits finishing with nine and eight points.
Halle Crouse gave Logan a 10-5 with her basket with 3:35 to play in the opening quarter, but the Lady Indians went on an 8-0 run to take a 13-10 lead before Amick hit her third 3 of the opening quarter to even the score at 13 after one quarter.
Makaela Ullman led Sissonville with a game-high 20 points and Kenna Britton added 14 points.
