Tigers pull away from Beavers in second half


INSTITUTE   Chapmanville shot 57% from the field in the second half of Monday afternoon's 73-58 win over Bluefield in the Snyder of Berlin Utz Snacks Shootout at the Walker Convocation Center on the campus of West Virginia State University.


Chapmanville trailed after one quarter of play and led by five at halftime, before the Tigers opened the third quarter on a 16-3 run to open up a 16-point lead.


The Tigers made 17 of their 30 shots in the second half including 10 of 15 in the third quarter.


Keaton Terry led three Tigers in double figures, finishing with 20 points, 18 rebounds and four blocks, and was named Game Changer Player of the Game for his efforts. Joey Gollihue finished with 16 and Colton Brock scored 12 off the bench.


Chapmanville (10-5), ranked eighth in the Class AAA poll at the time of Monday's contest, outrebounded Bluefield (2-13) 35-24 and outscored the Beavers 48-22 in the paint.


Ricky Dunford led Bluefield with 17 points. Jase Smith and Devin Totten each added 14 points.


Chapmanville will host Class AAAA Capital Monday night at the Danny Godby Gymnasium.
