NAUGATUCK Braydun Ferris scored 25 points to lead three Tug Valley players in double figures and the Class A No. 1 Panthers extended their season long winning streak to 16 games with an 83-64 win over Class AA No. 6 Logan on Tuesday night.
Kaden Hale had 21 for Tug Valley (20-2) and Carson Newsome scored 15.
McCormick Ilderton and Lucas Lambert had 15 points each to lead the Wildcats (13-9), who have lost seven of their last eight games and nine of their last 14 after an 8-0 start to the season. Ivan Miller had 12 points and Zayden Sherod scored 10.
Tug Valley shot 67% from the field in the first quarter and led 22-15 after one. The Panthers led by as many as 12 points in the first half before Logan ended the half on a 6-0 run to draw within six points, 33-27, at the break.
Logan briefly led twice, 2-0 and 4-2, in the first quarter before Tug Valley went on an 8-0 run to take a 10-4 lead. The Panthers never trailed for the remainder of the game.
The Wildcats trimmed the deficit to three to start the third and trailed by five, 34-29, before the Panthers closed the third on a 25-8 run to take a 59-37 lead after three quarters.
The Panthers hit 63% of their shots from the field in the third quarter and hit 65% in the fourth and shot 67% from the field in the second half.
Logan hosts Charleston Catholic Wednesday night in one of two Class AA Region IV co-championship games with the winner advancing to the state tournament.
