The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 857 new cases of COVID-19.
As of 10 o’clock Wednesday morning, W.Va. currently has 26,217 active cases of coronavirus.
Since the onset of the outbreak, 1,836 West Virginians have succumbed to COVID-19. Twenty-one people died in the last 24 hours.
Today’s daily positive infection rate is 7.70%.
According to the color-coded map released this morning by the state DHHR, 15 counties remain in the restrictive red zone. Red counties include Boone and Mingo counties.
Thirty-one counties are orange including Logan, Lincoln, Wayne and Wyoming.
Six counties are gold.
Four counties are yellow.
McDowell County is the only green county and the first in nearly 3 weeks.
W.Va. has administered 134,037 doses of the first round of vaccine. As of press time, 26,162 residents have received both rounds of shots.
