CAMERON Colson Wichterman ran for three touchdowns and Klypsan Wallace ran for two more as eighth-seeded Cameron defeated ninth-seeded Man 40-8 in the first round of the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission Class A playoffs Saturday afternoon at Dragon Field.

Cameron (10-1) will face top ranked James Monroe (9-1) in a Class A quarterfinal matchup Saturday afternoon at James Monroe's H.E. Comer, Jr. Sports Complex.

Wichterman and Wallace, the first duo to rush for 1,000 yards in Cameron's 114-year history, combined for 256 rushing yards and five touchdowns for the Dragons.

Wichterman, a dual threat quarterback who rushed for over 1,000 yards and passed for 1,000 yards this season, ran for 176 yards and scored on runs of 58, 16 and 1 yard while completing 4 of 8 passes for 113 touchdowns and one touchdown.

Wallace ran for 80 yards on 12 carries and scored on runs of 4 and 20 yards in the first quarter.

Cameron stuck first with a 4-yard run from Wallace with 5:57 to play in the first quarter to go ahead 6-0 following a missed PAT kick. Wallce's second touchdown, a 20-yard run, and Hunter Wright's PAT kick gave the Dragons a 13-0 lead with 1:35 to play.

Wichterman scored on a 58-yard run with 4:43 to play in the second quarter to give Cameron a 20-0 lead.

Following a muffed punt, Man got on the board with 0:41 remaining before halftime when Lukas Haney scored from 4-yards out. Dusten Baisden ran in for a successful 2-point conversion to trim the deficit to 20-8.

Man (7-4), who was looking for its first playoff victory in 14 years, appeared to have seize momentum heading into halftime, however, Wichterman and Slaton Pettit had other ideas as the two hooked up for a 60-yard touchdown 15 seconds later to give Cameron a 27-8 lead at halftime.

Wichterman added two third quarter, 16 and 1- yard, to give Cameron a 40-8 lead after three quarters.

Pettit had one reception for 60 yards and Christopher Hartley caught one pass for 29 yards for the Dragons, who outgained Man 356-153 in total offense.

Corey Morgan rushed for 29 yards on eight carries for Man. Braxton Sword added 25 yards on four carries and Baisden had 16 yards on six rushing attempts.

Aaron Vanover, who took over at quarterback in the second quarter when starting quarterback Devon Sanders was forced to leave the contest after suffering a concussion, was 7 of 10 passing for 25 yards. Sanders completed 5 of 6 passes for 30 yards.

Kaleb Mullins hauled in four receptions for 31 yards and Haney had three catches for 14 yards.
