MAN Trey Ward scored 31 points leading the Man Hillbillies to a 73-40 victory over Van on Tuesday at the Man Memorial Fieldhouse in the Class A Region IV Tournament.
Justin Mullins added 11 points and Landon Cantrell 10 for the sixth-seeded Hillbillies (15-8), who have won eight straight over the Bulldogs, and advance to face third-seeded Wahama in Friday's quarterfinals.
Ward scored 18 points, including three 3-pointers and Man's first 12 points in the second quarter that saw the Hillbillies race out to a 36-17 lead.
Markie Meadows led the Bulldogs (0-18) with 11 points and Aaryn Meadows added 10.
Van led 4-2 early in the first quarter with 5:07 to play. The game was tied at 6 following a pair of Cade Price free throws with 2:44 to play before Man closed the quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 13-6 first quarter lead.
Man scored the first seven points of the second quarter to extend the run to 14-0 and the lead to 20-6 following a Ward free throw with 5:22 to play in the first half.
Man started the third quarter on a 12-0 run to take a 48-17 lead with 3:22 remaining in the third. Man led by 28 at the end of the third and led by as many as 39 points in the fourth before Van scored the final six points.
The Bulldogs had a pair of field goal droughts lasting more than five minutes in length during the second and third quarter.
