WVOW Report
FORT GAY Water in Fort Gay is now safe to drink and use, according to the Fort Gay Water System Friday.
A press release stated the all-clear was effective as of six o’clock Thursday evening.
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources recommends all people in the area flush their water heaters. Fort Gay Water Works says to open the hot water tap in sinks for a half-hour or more.
On Monday, residents were told to not drink the water because of some kind of possible contaminants from a petroleum product that may have gotten into the water supply.
“Samples have been analyzed and cleared for use,” according to the announcement by Fort Gay Water.
The water company says customers will not be charged for the extra water usage clearing pipes.
