CLEAR FORK Logan came back from a 12-point fourth quarter deficit at Westside, drawing to within three points twice in the final 39 seconds before the Renegades held on for a 66-60 win Monday night.
The Wildcats, ranked third in Class AA, trailed the 10th-ranked Renegades, 52-40, following a Coltin Lester made basket with 7:26 to play.
Logan did not go away. Instead, the Wildcats chipped away at the Renegades' lead, scoring the next nine points and trailed 52-49 with 5:51 to play when Ivan Miller scored in the paint.
Westside would hold a 61-55 as play approached the final minute, but Logan would mount one last charge answering with a Lucas Lambert free throw and a Matt Hatfield layup to trim the lead to 61-58 with 39 seconds remaining.
Kyler Kenneda made a pair of free throws to give Westside a 63-58 lead before McCormick Ilderton answered with a layup to pull Logan within three, 63-60, with 26 seconds to play.
Following a Kenneda free throw with 17 seconds remaining, which put Westside up 64-60, Logan thought they had pulled to within two, 64-62, with 10 seconds left, however, Zayden Sherod was called for offensive goaltending and the basket was nullified.
Logan led 15-12 after one quarter and the game was tied at 29 at halftime. The Wildcats scored the first four points of the third quarter to take a 33-29 lead.
The lead was three, 37-34, following a pair of Gage Green free throws, however, it would be the last lead for the Wildcats as Westside closed the quarter on a 16-3 run and led 50-40 after three quarters.
Austin Bishop led four Renegades (9-4) in double figures with 18 points. Kenneda and Lester each had 16 and Kaiden Vance finished with 14.
Sherod finished with 17 to lead Logan (12-4) and Miller scored 14 while Green and Lambert each had nine.
Logan returns to action Friday night at top-ranked Williamstown.
