LENORE A Mingo County resident says he shot and killed a man that came to his house and started a fight.
West Virginia State Police First Sergeant MS Lively says 42-year-old Charles Speer, of Kermit, was shot by a fifty-year-old homeowner early Friday morning.
Lively told MetroNews that Speer went to the residence on Route 65 between Lenore and Naugatuck around five o’clock in the morning Friday. An altercation between the two ended with the resident shooting an unarmed Speer multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The shooter and Speer were described as acquaintances.
Lively said the Mingo County prosecutor urged for the investigation to continue to determine if any charges are warranted in the case. No charges have been filed as of yet.
